Headteacher's Weekly Message: 22nd June 2018

Be Proud – GCSE Exams come to an end this week

Year 11 students sat their final exam on Friday 22 June and are finally able to breathe a sigh of relief. I am immensely proud of the way the girls have conducted themselves over this intense period of exams and look forward to celebrating with them on GCSE Results day in August.

This week our Year 11 leavers collected their Leavers Hoodies as a final reminder of their time at Sarah Bonnell and waved goodbye to school. Many of them keep coming back ….. they miss it already!

Work Hard- Staff learn how to ‘Google’

Sarah Bonnell has invested in sets of Google Chromebooks for every classroom in the school for September 2018. On Wednesday, during our staff twilight session, staff were trained on the use of Google Drive and Google Classroom to improve teaching and leadership across the school. Staff learned how to share documents and make edits to them ‘real-time’ which will help them collaborate quickly and effectively on school documents such as lesson resources and school policies. Staff also learned how to create PowerPoint slides that use the Google ‘Explore’ button to help speed up the process of creating engaging and interesting slides. The sessions went really well and will enable all staff to make the best use of the class sets of Google Chromebooks with students.

Be Nice – Staff ‘Come Dine with Me’

On Friday lunch-time staff from across the school got together for a fund-raising event ‘Come Dine with Me’. Staff donated dishes they had bought, baked and prepared in order to have a healthy and sociable lunch. The £5 donation goes to United World Schools with all the money raised going to our partner school in Cambodia. Mr Begley’s dal, Ms Nahaboo’s aubergine and potato bhaji and Ms Servini’s spinach quiche were amongst the tasty dishes on offer.
