Be Proud – Be Proud Week

This week there has been a great focus on Be Proud. A variety of activities in the Piazza to get students and staff thinking about what makes them proud. On Wednesday Sarah Bonnell School held a Cultural Dress day to raise money for our school charity United World Schools. Be Proud was a great success with thanks to the hard work of Mr Begley and all the Form Tutors who supported their Form Groups with their social-entrepreneurial skills. Sarah Bonnell raised over £1500 for our school in Cambodia this week.

Work Hard- Year 10 Careers Insight Visit & Mock Interviews This week Year 10 have been involved with career insight visits and mock interviews to develop their knowledge and understanding of the world of work and develop their employability skills, communication and collaboration. Thank you to all the businesses and companies that have allowed Sarah Bonnell students to take part in this fantastic opportunity and well done to Year 10. Thank you to Ms Aylott, Ms Whitfield, Ms Whitehouse and Mr Archer for the important role they play in making these types of opportunities happen for all students.

Wimbledon 2018 On Tuesday 10th July Sarah Bonnell students went to Wimbledon Tennis Championships. The day was very well planned and organised by Ms Sangster, Deputy Headteacher and Ms Nicholson. The girls all had a fantastic day!                                                         

100 Years - RAF Showcase and Flypast On Monday 9th July Ms Adel, Ms Bhudia, Ms Isla accompanied a group of students who were invited to celebrate the RAF100 at the Horse Guards parade on Monday 9th July. Students were shown all the different types of aircrafts used by the British Army. Our students were amazed with the engineering aspect of all the planes and how technical they all were. SB students then visited them STEM tent to play around with some VR equipment. Overall a fantastic STEM day for our students. Alongside this on Tuesday 10th July students were invited out to our Muga area to watch the RAF Flypast where they spotted the Spitfire, the Hurricane and the famous Red Arrows!

Aim High - Year 8  Borough Rounders League Well done to our Year 8’s who won the Borough Rounders league and finished 2nd overall in the Borough tournament. The P.E department have said ‘it’s been an absolute joy and a privilege to train and spend time with the team this year and they thoroughly deserve to be Newham champions!’
