Celebration of Achievement Evening 2009

Categories: General News

The 19th November 2009 was a special date in the calendar for Sarah Bonnell School and the 2008/2009 Year 11 leavers.

The occasion, being the Sarah Bonnell School Celebration of Achievement Evening event.

Once again we were delighted to have the grand, rather opulent venue of The Old Town Hall Stratford. The elegant Victorian building with its magnificent interiors and the stunning large chandeliers made the event one to remember for years to come.
The many speeches by the Headteacher Ms Cauthar Tooley, the guest of honour Ms Jacqueline Aygepong, the Student Development Manager for the year 11s Mr. Meadows and the previous Headgirl Shingirai Sibanda were informative, motivational and entertaining.
The music item performed by the current year 11s was magical and held the audience spellbound!

The group, which included Sandra Afefu, Gabrielle Adje-Lamptey and Hope Wilton Waddle, performed a rendition of Alicia Keys song ‘Superwoman’ which they dedicated to the students of Sarah Bonnell. They were joined by Zem Zem Adam, Khalia Smith, Nioka Brown, Joniece Harris, Kristen Kithambo, Nina Ilunga and Nirma Ali for a rousing cappella medley of songs which enthralled the audience.
The awards and trophies were presented by our guest of honour Ms Aygepong, being an Olympiad and therapist to the team GB was a shining example for the young students to always give their best to their academic progress and their sporting aspirations.
The evening was a great success and all who attended had an enjoyable evening and one to remember for years to come. The academic results were among the best ever attained by the Sarah Bonnell year 11 students.

Between the top 5 students they obtained 61 GCSE’S and 25 A*s.
A big thank you to all the members of staff who helped make the event run smoothly, to the special guests that inspired the students and all the parents that attended, who no doubt were proud of their daughters achievements.

Long may this tradition continue.
