Book Day 2010
Categories: General News
The annual year 7 Book Day took place on Thursday 4th February 2010.
The school welcomed 5 visiting poets, authors and Art Director. The event was eagerly anticipated and much appreciated by every Year 7 form group. There was great interest and bundles of enthusiasm which was not in the least dwindling.
Tim Rose contributed from his wealth of experience as a designer and Art Director, the magical words of the poet Lennox Carty enthralled the students, the humour of Neal Zetter brought a greater understanding of poems and words, the drama of the storyteller Catherine Johnson whose father was Jamaican and her mother Welsh, the mystic of the poet Wes Magee with his sad and sometimes silly, sometimes serious but fantastic poems were all not just an experience for the year 7’s to savour but also a huge slice of learning with fun.
Additional workshops that played an integral part of the day were run by members of our staff who are thanked for their contributions and all richly added to the visual and literary development, of our students.
Such fun to work with words, learn and enjoy, onwards and upwards!
