Business Action Group

The East London Business Aliance (ELBA) provides a Business Action Group programme that builds networks between businesses, schools and young people through understanding their needs, skills and knowledge.

Our links and opportunities with ELBA and the Business Action Group have also grown significantly over the last year and we have been involved in more projects, visits and events, all of which have had a very positive impact on the students involved.  Staff from these organisations have commented on how confident and engaging our students have been.

All Year 10 students have attended at least one Careers Insight visit to various organisations such as Beazley, Davis Polk and City of London Corporation.  We have again successfully completed a Mentoring Programme with Pinsent Masons and a group of our Year 10 students.  Earlier in the Spring term, we held a Careers Junction for all Year 9 students where they had the opportunity to attend 4 interactive sessions choosing from a range of options including Medicine, Performing Arts and Marketing.  Volunteers from several organisations helped with conducting the Prefect Interviews and staff from KPMG counted the votes for the Head Girl election.  We have introduced a range of lunchtime careers talks where professionals from ITV, Westfield and Royal London have come in to talk to students informally about their careers.

As part of our next steps, this year, we are currently working with KMPG to introduce a Dragons Den programme which we hope will improve enterprise skills.  The Financial Conduct Authority ran a confidence building workshop and Davis Polk have specifically asked the school to attend a confidence building workshop and a female leadership event which will focus on women in the workplace and developing employability skills.
